College Interview Tips

Being interviewed by an individual who represents a college is an important opportunity. This gives provides the student with a chance to express their character and interest in the school, and knowing how to prepare can make a vast difference.

Beneficial Tips

  • Start off strong and confident! Introduce yourself by making eye contact and addressing the interviewer appropriately.
  • Be yourself. As simple as this may sound, it is important to showcase your true self by acting genuine.  
  • Do your research. Learn as much information about the school and why you want to attend. 
  • Prepare for common interview questions.
  • Have questions. Asking questions about the school helps to demonstrate your interest and eagerness to know more about it. Creating a list can be a helpful start.
  • Practice!  Having a friend or relative role play as the interviewer can be immensely useful when trying to improve your skills.
  • Write a thank you note following the interview. This is a thoughtful way to show your appreciation, as well as stand out.
